Setting up your PlayStation 5 requires connecting the console, configuring network settings, and creating or signing into your PlayStation Network account. This process takes about 20-30 minutes and prepares your console for gaming and media streaming.

  1. Connect the power cable and HDMI. Plug the included power cord into the back of the PS5 and connect it to a wall outlet. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the PS5 and to an HDMI input on your TV or monitor. Press the power button on the console to turn it on.
  2. Pair the DualSense controller. Connect the DualSense controller to the PS5 using the included USB-C cable. Press the PlayStation button on the controller. The console will automatically pair the controller and charge it simultaneously.

  4. Connect to Wi-Fi or ethernet. Select your Wi-Fi network from the available networks list and enter the password. Alternatively, connect an ethernet cable to the back of the PS5 for a wired connection. Test the connection to ensure internet access.
  5. Sign in or create a PlayStation Network account. Choose 'Sign In' if you have an existing PlayStation Network account, or select 'Create Account' for a new account. Enter your email and password, or follow the prompts to create a new account with your personal information.
  6. Configure privacy and data collection settings. Review and adjust settings for data collection, personalized content, and marketing communications. Choose whether to enable automatic game save uploads to PlayStation Plus cloud storage. Select your preferred settings and continue.
  7. Install system software updates. Allow the PS5 to download and install any available system updates. This process happens automatically once connected to the internet. The console will restart once updates are complete.
