A concise guide to configuring local and network printers on ChromeOS. Learn how to connect, manage, and print documents seamlessly from your Chromebook.

  1. Connect the printer to your network. Ensure both your Chromebook and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For wired printers, connect the USB cable directly to an available port on your Chromebook. Verify that the printer is powered on and in a ready state.
  2. Access ChromeOS print settings. Click the time display in the bottom-right corner of your screen and select the gear icon to open Settings. Navigate to the left-hand sidebar and select Advanced, then click Print and scan. Select Printers to begin the discovery process.
  3. Save the printer to your device. Look for your printer in the list of discovered devices under the Available printers section. Click the Save button next to your printer model. If your printer does not appear, click Add printer and manually enter the IP address and protocol details.
  4. Print your document. Open the document, image, or web page you wish to print. Press the specified print shortcut on your keyboard to trigger the print dialog. Ensure your printer is selected in the Destination dropdown menu.
  5. Configure print parameters. Within the print dialog, click More settings to adjust layout, paper size, margins, and color options. Once configured, click the blue Print button to send the job to your device. The document will queue and print automatically.
