How to Go Live on TikTok
Learn how to start a live stream on TikTok. Step-by-step guide to broadcasting live video to your followers with the TikTok mobile app.
- Check your follower count. Open TikTok and tap your profile icon in the bottom-right corner. Verify you have at least 1,000 followers displayed under your username. If you have fewer than 1,000 followers, the live streaming option will not appear.
- Open the camera interface. Tap the plus (+) icon at the bottom center of your TikTok home screen. This opens the video recording interface where you can choose different content creation options.
- Select LIVE mode. Swipe right through the recording options at the bottom of the screen until you reach 'LIVE'. The option appears between 'Photo' and other recording modes. If you don't see LIVE, you haven't met the follower requirement.
- Add a title for your stream. Tap the text field that says 'Add a title...' and type a descriptive title for your live stream. Keep it under 32 characters. Your title helps viewers understand what your stream will cover.
- Configure your stream settings. Tap the settings icon to adjust who can comment, send gifts, or view your stream. You can restrict these to followers only or allow everyone. Choose your front or rear camera using the flip icon.
- Start your live broadcast. Tap the red 'Go LIVE' button to begin broadcasting. Your stream starts immediately and followers receive a notification that you're live. The viewer count and comments appear on screen in real-time.
- End your live stream. Tap the 'X' in the top-left corner when ready to end your stream. Confirm by tapping 'End' in the popup dialog. TikTok provides a summary showing total viewers, gifts received, and stream duration.
