How to Fix TikTok Not Loading
Fix TikTok loading issues with these proven troubleshooting steps. Get your TikTok feed working again in minutes on iPhone and Android.
- Check your internet connection. Open another app that requires internet access like Safari or Chrome and load a webpage. If other apps fail to load content, your internet connection is the issue. Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data or vice versa to test connectivity.
- Force close and restart TikTok. On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and hold, then swipe up on TikTok to close it. On Android, tap the recent apps button and swipe TikTok away. Wait 10 seconds, then reopen TikTok from your home screen.
- Clear TikTok's cache. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > TikTok > Storage > Clear Cache. On iPhone, this happens automatically, but you can offload the app in Settings > General > iPhone Storage > TikTok > Offload App, then reinstall from the App Store.
- Update the TikTok app. Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play Store on Android. Search for TikTok and tap Update if available. App updates often fix loading bugs and improve performance.
- Check TikTok server status. Visit downdetector.com on your browser and search for TikTok to see if other users report loading issues. If widespread outages appear on the map, the problem is on TikTok's end and you need to wait for their fix.
- Restart your device. Power off your phone completely and wait 30 seconds before turning it back on. This refreshes network connections and clears system-level issues that may interfere with app loading.
- Check date and time settings. Go to your device's Settings and verify that date and time are set to automatic. Incorrect time settings can cause SSL certificate errors that prevent TikTok from connecting to its servers.
- Reinstall TikTok as a last resort. Delete TikTok from your device, restart your phone, then reinstall from the App Store or Google Play Store. Log back in with your username and password. This resolves corrupted app files that other methods cannot fix.
