How to Use Instagram Shopping Features

Set up Instagram Shopping to sell products directly through your posts and stories. Complete guide to product catalogs, shopping tags, and checkout.

1. Convert to Instagram Business Account. Open Instagram and go to Settings > Account > Switch to Professional Account. Select Business and complete the setup process. Connect your Facebook Business Page when prompted. This conversion enables access to Instagram Shopping tools.
2. Create Facebook Product Catalog. Open Facebook Business Manager and navigate to Commerce Manager > Catalogs > Create Catalog. Select E-commerce and add your products manually or upload a CSV file. Include product names, descriptions, prices, and high-quality images for each item.
3. Connect Instagram to Facebook Catalog. In Instagram Settings, tap Business > Shopping > Get Started. Select the Facebook catalog you created and submit for review. Instagram typically reviews shopping accounts within 1-3 business days before approving access.
4. Tag Products in Posts. Create a new post and upload your product image. Tap Tag Products and select up to 5 products from your catalog that appear in the image. Position the product tags on relevant areas of the photo before publishing.
5. Add Shopping Stickers to Stories. Create an Instagram Story and tap the sticker icon. Select Product or Shopping Bag sticker and choose products from your catalog. Customize the sticker appearance and position it prominently in your story frame.
6. Set Up Instagram Shop Tab. Go to Settings > Business > Shopping > Shop. Customize your shop by selecting featured products and creating collections. Arrange products by category or theme to help customers browse your full inventory easily.
7. Enable In-App Checkout. In Commerce Manager, select your catalog and click Sell on Instagram. Choose checkout options and configure payment methods, shipping, and return policies. Enable Instagram checkout to let customers complete purchases without leaving the app.
