How to Use Instagram Collab Posts
Learn how to create and use Instagram Collab posts to share content with another account and reach both audiences simultaneously.
- Create your post as normal. Open Instagram and tap the + icon to create a new post. Select your photo or video, apply filters and edits as desired. Write your caption and add hashtags normally.
- Tap Tag People. On the sharing screen, tap 'Tag People' below your caption. This opens the tagging interface where you can add collaborators.
- Select Invite Collaborator. At the bottom of the Tag People screen, tap 'Invite Collaborator'. Search for the account you want to collaborate with by typing their username or display name.
- Choose your collaborator. Select the account from the search results. Instagram will show their profile picture and username. Tap their name to add them as a collaborator.
- Share the post. Tap 'Share' to publish your post. Instagram sends a collaboration request to the other account. The post appears on your profile immediately but shows only your username until they accept.
- Wait for collaborator acceptance. The invited account receives a notification and must accept the collaboration request. Once accepted, the post displays both usernames and appears on both profiles.
- Monitor shared analytics. Both collaborators can view the post's insights and analytics. Engagement metrics combine likes, comments, and shares from both audiences into unified statistics.
