How to Use Instagram Collab Posts

Learn how to create and use Instagram Collab posts to share content with another account and reach both audiences simultaneously.

  1. Create your post as normal. Open Instagram and tap the + icon to create a new post. Select your photo or video, apply filters and edits as desired. Write your caption and add hashtags normally.
  2. Tap Tag People. On the sharing screen, tap 'Tag People' below your caption. This opens the tagging interface where you can add collaborators.
  3. Select Invite Collaborator. At the bottom of the Tag People screen, tap 'Invite Collaborator'. Search for the account you want to collaborate with by typing their username or display name.
  4. Choose your collaborator. Select the account from the search results. Instagram will show their profile picture and username. Tap their name to add them as a collaborator.
  5. Share the post. Tap 'Share' to publish your post. Instagram sends a collaboration request to the other account. The post appears on your profile immediately but shows only your username until they accept.
  6. Wait for collaborator acceptance. The invited account receives a notification and must accept the collaboration request. Once accepted, the post displays both usernames and appears on both profiles.
  7. Monitor shared analytics. Both collaborators can view the post's insights and analytics. Engagement metrics combine likes, comments, and shares from both audiences into unified statistics.
