How to Manage Facebook Ad Preferences
Control what ads you see on Facebook by managing your ad preferences. Adjust interests, hide specific advertisers, and limit data usage for targeted ads.
- Access Facebook Ad Preferences. Open Facebook and click the downward arrow in the top-right corner. Select Settings & Privacy > Settings. In the left sidebar, click Ads under the Privacy section. This opens your Ad Preferences dashboard.
- Review your ad interests. Click Ad Topics to see categories Facebook thinks you're interested in. Remove unwanted interests by hovering over them and clicking the X. Add new interests by typing in the search bar at the top of the interests section.
- Hide specific advertisers. Navigate to Advertisers and Businesses. Click Advertisers you've seen most recently to view companies that have shown you ads. Click Hide Ads next to any advertiser whose ads you don't want to see. These advertisers will be moved to your hidden list.
- Limit data sources for ad targeting. Click Ad settings in the left menu. Toggle off Data about your activity from partners if you don't want Facebook to use information from other websites and apps. Turn off Categories used to reach you to prevent advertisers from targeting you based on uploaded contact lists.
- Control political and social issue ads. In Ad settings, find the Political ads section. Choose to see fewer political ads if you want to reduce their frequency in your feed. You can also view who has run political ads by clicking See all in the Political advertisers section.
- Manage off-Facebook activity. Click Your information and select Off-Facebook Activity. Click Clear History to remove data Facebook has collected from other websites and apps. Turn off Future off-Facebook activity to prevent Facebook from receiving this data going forward.
- Set general ad preferences. Return to Ad settings and review Ads shown off of Facebook. Toggle this off if you don't want to see Facebook ads on other websites and apps. Check your Information used for ads settings to ensure only desired data sources are enabled.
