How to Add a New Email Account on iPhone

Adding an email account to your iPhone lets you manage multiple email addresses from the native Mail app. The iPhone supports automatic setup for major providers like Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo, plus manual configuration for custom email servers.

  1. Open Settings and navigate to Mail. Tap the Settings app on your home screen. Scroll down and tap Mail. If you don't see Mail listed, tap Accounts & Passwords instead (iOS 13 and earlier).
  2. Select Add Account. Tap Accounts, then tap Add Account. You'll see a list of popular email providers including iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, Google, Yahoo, AOL, and Outlook.com.
  3. Choose your email provider or select Other. Tap your email provider from the list for automatic setup. If your provider isn't listed, tap Other at the bottom to configure manually. Popular providers like Gmail and Outlook will use secure authentication.
  4. Enter your email credentials. Type your full email address and password. For major providers, tap Next and follow the authentication prompts. For Other accounts, you'll need incoming and outgoing mail server settings from your email provider.
  5. Configure sync settings. Choose which data to sync with your iPhone by toggling Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Notes on or off. Tap Save when finished. The iPhone will verify your account settings and begin downloading recent emails.
  6. Verify the account appears in Mail. Open the Mail app and confirm your new account appears in the mailbox list. Tap the account name to view folders and recent emails. Your account is now ready to send and receive messages.
