How to Create a Playlist on YouTube Music

Create a custom playlist on YouTube Music to organize and save your favorite songs in one place.

  1. Open YouTube Music and access the library. Launch YouTube Music on your web browser or mobile app. On the web, navigate to music.youtube.com. On mobile, tap the YouTube Music app. Ensure you are signed into your Google account.
  2. Go to your library section. On the web, click the Library icon in the left sidebar. On mobile, tap the Library tab at the bottom of the screen. This displays your saved songs, albums, artists, and playlists.
  3. Find the create playlist option. On the web, scroll to the Playlists section and click Create Playlist. On mobile, tap the plus icon next to Playlists or select Create Playlist from the menu. A dialog box will appear.
  4. Name your playlist. Type a name for your playlist in the text field. Choose a descriptive title that reflects the playlist's content, such as "Workout Hits" or "Chill Vibes." Keep the name concise and memorable.
  5. Set privacy options if available. Some versions allow you to choose whether the playlist is Private or Public at creation. Select your preference. Private playlists are visible only to you, while Public playlists can be shared with others.
  6. Create the playlist. Click Create or the confirmation button to finalize the playlist. The empty playlist will now appear in your Library under Playlists.
  7. Add songs to your new playlist. Search for songs or navigate to any song in YouTube Music. Click the three-dot menu next to the song and select Add to Playlist. Choose your newly created playlist from the list. Repeat this process to build your collection.
