How to Share a ChatGPT Conversation
ChatGPT includes a built-in sharing feature that creates a public link to your conversation. Anyone with this link can view the entire conversation thread, making it perfect for collaboration or sharing interesting AI responses.
- Open the conversation you want to share. Navigate to the ChatGPT conversation in your chat history. The conversation must be complete or at a point where you want to share it. You can share conversations from any device where you're logged into ChatGPT.
- Click the share button. Look for the share icon (arrow pointing up and to the right) next to the conversation title at the top of the chat. On mobile, tap the three dots menu first, then select Share. The share button appears only for conversations that contain at least one complete exchange.
- Choose your sharing preferences. Select whether to share the entire conversation or messages up to a specific point. You can also choose to anonymize your name in the shared version. Review the preview to ensure you're sharing exactly what you intend.
- Generate the shareable link. Click Create Link to generate a unique URL for your conversation. ChatGPT will create a permanent link that doesn't expire. The system will confirm the link creation with a success message.
- Copy and distribute the link. Click Copy Link to add the URL to your clipboard. You can now paste this link in emails, messages, social media, or any other platform. Recipients don't need a ChatGPT account to view shared conversations.
- Manage your shared conversations. Access your shared conversations through Settings > Data Controls > Shared Links. Here you can view all your active shared links and delete any you no longer want to be public. Deleted shared links immediately become inaccessible.
