How to Clone Your Voice with ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs Voice Cloning creates a digital replica of your voice using AI technology. The process requires high-quality voice samples and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to train a basic model that can speak any text in your voice.
- Create an ElevenLabs account. Navigate to elevenlabs.io and click Sign Up. Choose between free tier (10,000 characters monthly) or paid plans for higher limits. Verify your email address and complete the onboarding process.
- Access Voice Lab. Click Voice Lab in the left sidebar of your ElevenLabs dashboard. Select Add Voice, then choose Voice Cloning from the options. This opens the voice cloning interface where you'll upload your samples.
- Record voice samples. Upload 1-25 audio files containing your voice. Each file should be 30 seconds to 5 minutes of clear speech. Use a quiet environment with minimal background noise. Read varied content like news articles, books, or prepared scripts to capture different speaking patterns.
- Configure voice settings. Enter a name for your voice clone in the Voice Name field. Add a description to help identify the voice later. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu. Enable Enhanced if you have a paid subscription for higher quality output.
- Train the voice model. Click Add Voice to begin training. ElevenLabs processes your samples using their neural voice synthesis technology. Training typically completes within 5-10 minutes. You'll receive an email notification when the voice clone is ready.
- Test your voice clone. Navigate to Speech Synthesis in the main dashboard. Select your newly created voice from the Voice dropdown menu. Type test text in the input box and click Generate Speech. Listen to the output to evaluate quality and naturalness.
- Adjust voice parameters. Fine-tune your voice clone using the Stability and Similarity sliders. Stability controls consistency (higher values reduce variability). Similarity determines how closely the output matches your original voice. Experiment with different combinations for optimal results.
