How to Create a Dedicated Workout Watch Face on Apple Watch

Optimize your Apple Watch for fitness by creating a dedicated workout face. Follow these steps to configure complications and settings for instant access.

  1. Enter the face gallery. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone. Navigate to the Face Gallery tab located in the bottom navigation bar to browse available watch face templates.
  2. Choose a data-dense watch face. Select the Infograph or Modular watch face for the highest number of complication slots. These layouts provide the most space for heart rate, rings, and training metrics.
  3. Assign workout complications. Tap each available complication slot. Select Workout from the Workouts category for the main slot, and Heart Rate and Activity from their respective apps for the smaller slots.
  4. Add the face to your collection. Press the Add button at the top of the customization screen. The watch face will immediately sync to your Apple Watch.
  5. Set automation trigger. In the Watch app, navigate to My Watch > Workout. Toggle on Automatically Launch to ensure your watch remains in the workout display while active, reverting to your new face once finished.
