How to Create AI Videos with Synthesia
Synthesia transforms text into professional videos using AI avatars, eliminating the need for cameras, actors, or studios. This platform enables rapid video production for training, marketing, and educational content with over 140 AI presenters speaking 120+ languages.
- Create your Synthesia account. Visit synthesia.io and click Sign Up. Choose between Personal ($30/month) or Corporate ($67/month) plans based on your video volume needs. Verify your email and complete the onboarding survey to access the dashboard.
- Select your AI avatar. Click Create Video from the dashboard. Browse the avatar library using filters for gender, ethnicity, age, and clothing style. Preview each avatar by clicking the play button. Select your chosen avatar and click Continue.
- Write and format your script. Enter your script in the text editor, keeping sentences under 200 characters for optimal lip-sync. Use the formatting toolbar to add emphasis, pauses, or pronunciation guides. Click the microphone icon to record custom pronunciation for technical terms.
- Customize your video template. Choose a template from the library or start with a blank canvas. Adjust background colors, add your logo using the Upload button, and position text elements. Set video dimensions in Settings — 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for social media, or 1:1 for square formats.
- Add media and visual elements. Click the Media tab to upload images, videos, or GIFs that support your message. Drag elements onto the timeline to synchronize with specific script sections. Use the Shapes tool to add arrows, callouts, or highlighting boxes.
- Configure voice and language settings. Click Voice Settings to adjust speech speed, tone, and language. Test different voices by clicking Preview for short script sections. Enable auto-generated subtitles in the Captions menu and customize font, color, and positioning.
- Generate and download your video. Click Generate Video in the top-right corner. Videos typically render in 5-15 minutes depending on length and complexity. Receive an email notification when complete. Download in MP4 format from the My Videos section.
