How to Use Replit AI Agent for Coding Assistance

Replit AI Agent provides intelligent coding assistance directly in your development environment, offering code generation, debugging help, and project guidance. This feature transforms how you write and troubleshoot code within Replit's browser-based IDE.

1. Access the AI Agent panel. Open your Replit project and locate the AI Agent icon in the left sidebar. Click the robot icon to open the AI chat interface. If you don't see the icon, ensure you have a Replit Core subscription as AI Agent requires a paid plan.
2. Start a conversation with context. Type your coding question or request in the chat input. Be specific about what you want to accomplish. The AI Agent automatically has context about your current project files and can reference them in its responses.
3. Request code generation. Ask the AI Agent to generate code by describing the functionality you need. Use prompts like 'Create a function that calculates the factorial of a number' or 'Write a REST API endpoint for user authentication.' The agent will provide complete code snippets.

5. Debug existing code. Share error messages or problematic code with the AI Agent for debugging assistance. Copy and paste your error output or describe the unexpected behavior. The agent will analyze the issue and suggest fixes.
6. Get project structure advice. Ask the AI Agent for guidance on organizing your project files, choosing appropriate libraries, or implementing best practices. The agent understands your project context and can provide architecture recommendations.
7. Iterate and refine solutions. Continue the conversation to refine the AI's suggestions. Ask follow-up questions like 'Can you make this more efficient?' or 'Add error handling to this function.' The AI maintains context throughout the conversation.
