How to Use Pika Labs for AI Video Generation

Pika Labs transforms text prompts into short video clips using artificial intelligence. The platform generates 3-second videos from detailed descriptions, making it accessible for content creators who need quick video assets without traditional filming or animation skills.

1. Join the Pika Labs Discord server. Navigate to pika.art and click Join Beta. This redirects you to Discord where you accept the server invitation. Verify your account if prompted and read the community guidelines in the welcome channel.
2. Navigate to a generation channel. Select any channel labeled #generate-1 through #generate-10 from the left sidebar. These channels process video generation requests. Avoid using general chat channels for video requests.
3. Write your video prompt. Type /create followed by your detailed prompt description. Include specific details about subjects, actions, camera movements, lighting, and style. For example: '/create a golden retriever running through autumn leaves, slow motion, cinematic lighting, warm sunset colors'.
4. Add generation parameters. Include optional parameters after your prompt. Use -ar 16:9 for widescreen format, -fps 24 for film-like motion, or -motion 3 for high movement intensity. Separate each parameter with a space.
5. Submit and monitor your request. Press Enter to submit your prompt. Pika Labs displays a progress indicator showing your position in the generation queue. Processing typically takes 1-3 minutes depending on server load.
6. Download your generated video. Click the download button below your completed video to save the MP4 file. The video downloads at 1280x720 resolution in a 3-second loop. Right-click the video to save it directly to your device.
7. Extend or modify your video. Use the expand button beneath your video to generate additional frames extending the clip. Click the vary button to create alternative versions with the same prompt. Both options help refine your final output.
