How to Use ChatGPT on iPhone

The official ChatGPT app brings OpenAI's conversational AI directly to your iPhone with voice input, conversation history, and seamless sync across devices. This guide covers downloading the app, creating an account, and using its key features.

  1. Download ChatGPT from the App Store. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for 'ChatGPT'. Tap the official ChatGPT app by OpenAI (look for the verified developer badge). Tap 'Get' to download and install the app.
  2. Create or sign in to your OpenAI account. Launch the ChatGPT app and tap 'Sign up' to create a new account or 'Log in' if you already have one. You can sign up using your email, Google account, Microsoft account, or Apple ID. Complete the verification process if prompted.
  3. Start your first conversation. Tap the text field at the bottom of the screen and type your question or prompt. Tap the send button (arrow icon) to submit your message. ChatGPT will process and respond to your input within seconds.
  4. Use voice input for hands-free interaction. Tap and hold the microphone icon next to the text field to record your voice message. Speak clearly and release the button when finished. The app will transcribe your speech and send it as a text prompt to ChatGPT.
  5. Manage your conversation history. Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner to view your conversation history. Each conversation is automatically saved and titled based on its content. Tap any conversation to resume it or swipe left to delete.
  6. Access app settings and features. Tap the menu icon, then tap the settings gear in the bottom-left corner. Here you can manage your account, adjust voice settings, clear conversations, and upgrade to ChatGPT Plus for faster responses and priority access.
  7. Share conversations and responses. To share a ChatGPT response, press and hold on any message bubble and tap 'Copy' or 'Share'. Use the Share option to send via Messages, Mail, or other apps. The Copy option places the text on your clipboard for pasting elsewhere.
