How to Remove Noise from Video with AI

Video noise appears as grain, digital artifacts, or unwanted visual static that degrades footage quality. AI-powered noise reduction tools analyze patterns in your video to intelligently separate noise from actual content, delivering cleaner results than traditional filters.

  1. Choose your AI noise reduction tool. Select an AI-powered video editor. DaVinci Resolve offers built-in AI noise reduction for free. Adobe Premiere Pro includes AI denoising in recent versions. Topaz Video AI specializes in AI enhancement and noise removal. Download and install your chosen software.
  2. Import your noisy video file. Launch your chosen software and create a new project. Import your video file by dragging it into the media library or using File > Import. Add the video to your timeline by dragging it from the library.
  3. Access the AI noise reduction feature. In DaVinci Resolve, go to Color workspace and find Noise Reduction in the OpenFX panel. In Premiere Pro, apply the Reduce Noise effect from the Video Effects panel. In Topaz Video AI, the noise reduction options appear in the main processing panel.
  4. Adjust noise reduction settings. Start with automatic or preset settings, then fine-tune. Increase noise reduction strength for heavily degraded footage. Adjust temporal filtering to reduce flickering between frames. Balance noise removal against detail preservation to avoid over-processing.
  5. Configure processing parameters. Set your output resolution and frame rate to match your source or desired final format. Choose appropriate codec settings - H.264 for general use or ProRes for professional workflows. Enable GPU acceleration if available to speed up processing.
  6. Process and render the video. Start the AI noise reduction process. Processing time depends on video length, resolution, and your computer's specifications. Monitor progress and ensure your system has adequate cooling for extended processing sessions.
  7. Review and export the cleaned video. Play back the processed video to verify noise reduction quality. Check for any artifacts or over-smoothing in detailed areas. Export the final video in your preferred format and quality settings.
