How to Find Your Wi-Fi Password on Android

Android devices store Wi-Fi passwords for networks you've connected to previously. You can retrieve these passwords directly from your phone's settings without needing router access or third-party apps.

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi. On some Android versions, this path may be Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi or Settings > Wi-Fi & network.
  2. Select your connected network. Tap on the Wi-Fi network you're currently connected to. This will be marked as "Connected" and appear at the top of the available networks list.
  3. Access network details. Look for a gear icon, "i" icon, or "Advanced" option next to your network name. Tap this to open the network details page.
  4. Find the password option. Scroll down to find "Password" or "Network password" field. On Android 10 and newer, you'll see the password hidden with dots or asterisks.
  5. Reveal the password. Tap the eye icon next to the password field to reveal it. You may need to authenticate with your fingerprint, PIN, or pattern lock to view the password.
  6. Alternative: Use QR code sharing. If password viewing isn't available, look for "Share" or QR code option in network details. Generate a QR code and use another device to scan it, which will display the network credentials.
  7. Copy or note the password. Once visible, tap and hold the password to copy it to your clipboard, or write it down for future reference. The password will remain visible until you navigate away from this screen.
