How to Clear Cache on iPhone
iPhone cache files accumulate over time and can slow performance while consuming storage space. Clearing these temporary files removes unnecessary data and can resolve app crashes or loading issues.
- Clear Safari cache and website data. Open Settings and scroll down to Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data, then confirm by tapping Clear History and Data. This removes browsing history, cookies, and cached files from Safari.
- Force close and restart problematic apps. Double-tap the Home button or swipe up from the bottom and pause to open App Switcher. Swipe up on app cards to force close them. Reopen the apps to clear their temporary cache files.
- Offload unused apps to clear cache. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Tap an app you rarely use and select Offload App. This removes the app but keeps its data, clearing all associated cache files.
- Delete and reinstall cache-heavy apps. In Settings > General > iPhone Storage, identify apps using significant storage. Tap the app and select Delete App, then reinstall from the App Store. This completely clears all cache and temporary files.
- Clear system cache with device restart. Press and hold the Side button and Volume Down button simultaneously until the power slider appears. Drag to power off, wait 30 seconds, then press the Side button to restart.
- Reset network settings for network cache. Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Enter your passcode and confirm. This clears Wi-Fi passwords, cellular settings, and network cache.
