How to Disable Advertising ID in Windows 11

Stop Windows 11 from tracking your app usage for personalized ads by disabling your unique advertising ID. Follow these steps to improve privacy.

  1. Open the Settings application. Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to launch the Settings application directly. Alternatively, right-click the Start button and select Settings from the power user menu.
  2. Access Privacy & security settings. In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on the Privacy & security tab. This menu contains all system-level telemetry and permissions configurations.
  3. Open General privacy settings. Under the Windows permissions section, select the General option. This screen contains the toggle for the advertising ID feature.
  4. Turn off the advertising ID toggle. Locate the setting labeled 'Let apps show me personalized ads by using my advertising ID'. Toggle the switch to the Off position to disable tracking immediately.
