Performing a Final Windows Setup Verification

Ensure your Windows installation is optimized, secure, and fully updated with this final verification checklist.

  1. Run the Windows Update cycle. Open Settings by pressing Win + I. Navigate to Windows Update and select Check for updates. Allow the system to download and install all pending quality and driver updates, then restart your device to finalize the changes.
  2. Confirm device driver status. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Scan the list for any items marked with a yellow warning icon, which indicates a missing or malfunctioning driver. Update these specific devices by right-clicking them and selecting Update driver.
  3. Validate Windows activation status. Navigate to Settings > System > Activation. Confirm that the Activation state is labeled as Active and that your digital license is linked to your Microsoft account. If the status is pending, re-enter your product key to complete the registration.
  4. Review Windows Security settings. Open Windows Security from the taskbar notification area. Verify that Virus & threat protection and Account protection show a green checkmark. If any section displays a yellow warning, click the item and follow the recommended remediation steps.
  5. Audit startup applications. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Select the Startup apps tab and disable any unnecessary programs that launch during boot. This step minimizes background resource consumption and improves overall system responsiveness.
