How to Review and Manage Browser Extensions in Microsoft Edge
Audit and remove malicious or unused extensions in Microsoft Edge for Windows to improve browser performance and security.
- Open the Extensions management menu. Launch Microsoft Edge. Click the ellipsis icon (...) located in the top-right corner of the browser window and select Extensions from the dropdown menu.
- Review installed extensions list. Examine the list of all active and inactive extensions installed on your profile. Pay close attention to extensions you do not recognize or those that require excessive permissions.
- Check extension permissions and status. Click Details under any specific extension to view its current access levels. If an extension requests access to 'All sites' or 'File URLs' without a clear justification, consider disabling it.
- Uninstall unnecessary extensions. Select Remove below the extension name to delete it entirely from your browser profile. Confirm the action by clicking Remove again when the browser prompt appears.
- Clear browser cache. After removing multiple extensions, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Select Cached images and files, set the time range to All time, and click Clear now to remove lingering traces of the removed software.
