How to Reduce Windows Diagnostic Data

Minimize Windows telemetry and privacy exposure by restricting diagnostic data collection to the absolute required minimum.

  1. Access Windows Privacy Settings. Open the Start menu and select the Settings gear icon. Navigate to the Privacy & security tab in the left-hand sidebar.
  2. Locate Diagnostic Feedback Options. Under the Windows permissions section, select Diagnostics & feedback. This page controls how your device shares data with Microsoft.
  3. Restrict Diagnostic Data. Click to expand the Diagnostic data section. Toggle the switch to Off for Send optional diagnostic data. Ensure only Required diagnostic data is selected to minimize outgoing information.
  4. Turn Off Tailored Experiences. Scroll down to the Tailored experiences section. Switch the toggle to Off to prevent Microsoft from using diagnostic data to provide personalized tips and recommendations.
  5. Delete Existing Diagnostic Data. Locate the Delete diagnostic data section at the bottom of the page. Click the Delete button to remove all diagnostic data currently stored on Microsoft servers for your device.
