How to Record Your Windows Screen With Audio
Capture high-quality screen recordings with system and microphone audio on Windows 11 using the built-in Snipping Tool. No third-party software required.
- Open the Snipping Tool application. Press the Windows key and type Snipping Tool into the search bar. Select the application from the search results to launch the interface.
- Switch to video recording mode. Locate the toolbar at the top of the Snipping Tool window. Click the Video camera icon to transition from screenshot mode to screen recording mode.
- Define your recording area. Click the New button in the top left corner of the interface. Use your cursor to click and drag across the specific area of the screen you wish to record, or select your entire desktop.
- Enable system and microphone audio. Before starting the recording, check the microphone icon in the recording overlay. Click the dropdown arrow to ensure your preferred input device is selected and that system audio capture is enabled.
- Start and stop your recording. Click the Start button in the overlay to begin capturing your screen. When you are finished, click the red Stop icon in the recording toolbar to conclude the session.
- Review and export the video file. Once the recording concludes, the video will open in a preview window within the Snipping Tool. Click the Save icon, choose your destination folder, and select MP4 as the file format.
