How to Pin Applications to the Windows Taskbar

Learn how to pin your favorite applications to the Windows taskbar for instant access. Follow this guide to customize your workflow.

1. Open the Start menu. Press the Windows key on your keyboard or click the Start button located on your taskbar. Ensure the Start menu overlay is fully visible on your screen.
2. Find the application. Locate the application you wish to pin within the pinned apps grid or the All apps list. If the application is not immediately visible, type the name of the program directly into the search bar.
3. Open the context menu. Right-click the icon of the application you want to pin. A context menu will appear, displaying secondary options for that specific program.
4. Pin the application. Select More from the context menu, then click Pin to taskbar. The application icon will immediately appear on your taskbar.
5. Confirm the placement. Verify that the icon is now visible on your taskbar. You can click and hold the icon to drag it to your preferred position relative to other pinned apps.
6. Unpin applications. To remove an item, right-click the pinned icon on the taskbar. Select Unpin from taskbar to remove it from the display.
