How to Create a System Restore Point in Windows 11
Learn how to manually create a system restore point in Windows 11 to protect your configuration before making critical system changes.
- Open System Properties. Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start menu. Type 'create a restore point' into the search bar and select the top result labeled Create a restore point.
- Enable System Protection. Locate the Protection Settings section. Ensure the local drive containing your Windows installation (usually C:) is selected, then click the Configure button.
- Initiate the Create process. Return to the System Protection tab in the System Properties window. Click the Create button located at the bottom of the dialogue box.
- Name the restore point. Enter a descriptive name for the restore point in the text field provided. This helps identify the state of the machine should you need to roll back later.
- Complete the creation. Click the Create button. Wait for the progress bar to finish; Windows will notify you once the restore point has been created successfully.
