How to Analyze Battery Usage in Windows 11
Analyze your Windows 11 battery consumption per application and hardware component to optimize system performance and longevity.
- Open the Settings application. Press the Windows key on your keyboard and select the Settings icon. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut to launch Settings directly.
- Access Power and battery settings. In the System tab, locate and click on the Power & battery menu item. This pane contains all power-related diagnostics and configuration options.
- Expand the Battery usage section. Scroll down to the Battery section. Click the arrow icon next to Battery usage to display the detailed activity graph and list of applications.
- Adjust the time interval. Use the Time interval dropdown menu to toggle between Last 24 hours or Last 7 days. This filter updates the graph and usage list below to reflect your chosen period.
- Review individual app consumption. Scroll to the Battery usage per app section. Identify apps with high percentages to determine if background tasks or excessive resource usage are impacting your battery life.
- Modify application background permissions. Click the three-dot menu icon next to a high-consuming app. Select Manage background activity to restrict or prevent the app from running when not in active use.
