How to Reset Your Windows Hello PIN

Learn how to reset your forgotten Windows Hello PIN on Windows 11. Follow these precise steps to regain access to your PC through the Settings menu.

  1. Navigate to the Sign-in options. On the Windows sign-in screen, select the Sign-in options link located below the password or PIN field. Choose the PIN icon if prompted to select a different method to verify you are attempting to reset the correct credential.
  2. Initiate the PIN reset sequence. Click the link labeled I forgot my PIN. A verification window will appear, asking you to confirm your identity through your Microsoft Account.
  3. Verify your identity. Enter your Microsoft Account password when prompted. If you have two-step verification enabled, select your preferred contact method—email or text message—to receive the security code, then input the code into the verification field.

  5. Apply changes and sign in. Click OK to finalize the reset. Use your newly created PIN to sign into your Windows desktop environment.
