How to Export and Import Browser Bookmarks on Windows

Learn how to migrate your web browser bookmarks to a new Windows PC using built-in export and import tools for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.

  1. Export bookmarks from the source browser. Open your current browser and locate the Bookmark Manager. In Google Chrome, press Ctrl+Shift+O, click the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner, and select Export Bookmarks. Save the resulting HTML file to a portable drive or cloud storage location accessible by the new PC.
  2. Transfer the bookmark file. Ensure the bookmark HTML file is saved to your new Windows PC. If using a USB drive, insert it into the target machine and copy the file to the local Desktop or Documents folder.
  3. Import bookmarks to the target browser. Open the web browser on your new PC. Access the Bookmark Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+O, click the three-dot menu icon, and select Import Bookmarks.
  4. Select the source file. Navigate to the folder where you saved the HTML file in step 2. Select the file and click Open to initiate the data transfer into your new browser profile.
  5. Confirm the bookmark migration. Locate the new folder labeled Imported in your Bookmark Bar or Bookmark Manager. Verify that your saved links are present and functional.
