How to Remove Bloatware and Trial Apps from a New Windows PC

A clean guide to removing pre-installed trial software and bloatware from your Windows PC to improve performance and reclaim storage space.

  1. Open the Installed Apps menu. Press the Windows key and type 'Installed apps'. Select the matching system setting from the search results to open the management panel.
  2. Identify non-essential applications. Scroll through the list of applications. Look for software titles you do not recognize, manufacturer-branded utilities, or trial versions of security software that you do not intend to purchase.
  3. Initiate the removal process. Locate the target application in the list. Click the 'More options' icon (represented by three horizontal dots) next to the app name and select 'Uninstall'.
  4. Authorize the uninstallation. A secondary confirmation prompt will appear. Click 'Uninstall' again to confirm your choice. Follow any on-screen prompts if the application launches its own custom removal wizard.
  5. Restart the system. After removing multiple applications, restart your computer to ensure all background processes, residual registry keys, and temporary files associated with the removed software are cleared.
