How to Customize Windows Notifications
Master Windows notifications. Learn to silence alerts, prioritize apps, and manage focus sessions for a distraction-free desktop environment.
- Access System Notification Settings. Open the Start menu and select the Settings icon. Navigate to System and select Notifications to view the master toggle and individual application permissions.
- Toggle Global Notifications. Locate the master Notifications toggle at the top of the screen. Switch this to Off to suppress all system alerts, or keep it On to configure granular per-app behavior.
- Manage Individual App Alerts. Scroll down to the Notifications from apps and other senders section. Click the toggle switch next to any application to enable or disable its ability to push notifications.
- Activate Focus Assist. Return to the System menu and select Focus. Set the timer duration and ensure the Do not disturb toggle is enabled to silence non-critical notifications during deep work sessions.
- Adjust Notification Behavior. Within the main Notifications menu, expand the Additional settings dropdown. Uncheck the boxes for Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device and Get tips and suggestions to remove Windows promotional content.
