How to Rename a Bluetooth Device on Windows 11
Rename any Bluetooth device on Windows 11. Change speaker, headphone, or mouse names directly from Settings.
- Open Bluetooth settings. Right-click the Start button or press Win+X. Select Settings from the menu. In the Settings window, click Bluetooth & devices in the left sidebar.
- Locate your Bluetooth device. In the Bluetooth & devices panel, scroll down to the Bluetooth section. You'll see a list of paired devices. Find the device you want to rename and observe its current name.
- Open the device menu. Click the three-dot menu icon next to your Bluetooth device's name. A dropdown menu will appear with options including Rename.
- Select Rename from the menu. Click Rename in the dropdown menu. A text field will appear with the device's current name highlighted and ready to edit.
- Type the new device name. Clear the current text and type your new device name. Keep the name descriptive and under 50 characters for clarity. You can use letters, numbers, spaces, and common punctuation marks.
- Save the new name. Press Enter or click outside the text field to confirm the rename. The device will now appear in your Bluetooth list with the new name you've assigned.
- Confirm the rename was successful. Look at the Bluetooth device list in Settings. Your renamed device should now display the new name. The device remains fully functional and connected.
