How to View Workout Route Maps on Apple Watch
Learn how to access and view detailed GPS route maps for your outdoor workouts directly from the Fitness app on your iPhone.
- Confirm location services are active. Before starting a workout, ensure your Apple Watch is permitted to track location. Open Settings on your iPhone, navigate to Privacy & Security, select Location Services, and confirm that the Apple Watch Workout app is set to While Using.
- Open the Fitness application. Unlock your iPhone and launch the Fitness app. Navigate to the Summary tab located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Locate your workout history. Scroll down to the Workouts section. Tap Show More to view your complete activity history, then tap the specific outdoor workout entry you wish to review.
- Examine the route map. The workout summary screen displays a map snapshot at the top. Tap the map thumbnail to enter the full-screen interactive view.
- Review pace and elevation data. While viewing the map, you can toggle between Map, Elevation, and Heart Rate views. Tap the icon in the top right corner to switch between these data layers for a complete analysis of your performance.
