How to Sync and Manage Focus Modes on Apple Watch

Master Focus modes on your Apple Watch. Learn how to sync settings from your iPhone, customize individual schedules, and toggle status directly on your wrist.

  1. Enable cross-device syncing. Open the Settings app on your iPhone and navigate to Focus. Ensure the Share Across Devices toggle is enabled to allow your Apple Watch to inherit the Focus state from your iPhone.
  2. Open the Control Center. Raise your wrist to wake the Apple Watch display. Press the side button once to reveal the Control Center, where your active Focus status icon is displayed.
  3. Toggle your active Focus mode. Tap the Focus icon within the Control Center to view available modes. Select any mode from the list to activate it, or tap the active mode to disable it immediately.
  4. Set a duration for your Focus. Tap the three dots (More) icon next to a mode in the Focus menu. Choose between 'For 1 hour', 'Until I leave', or 'Until the end of this event' to automate your status duration.
  5. Define Smart Activation. On your iPhone, select a specific Focus mode and tap Add Schedule. Configure Smart Activation to let your watch predict when you need a specific mode based on your usage patterns.
