How to Use Apple Pay on Apple Watch

Master contactless payments on your wrist. A step-by-step guide to setting up and using Apple Pay on your Apple Watch for secure, fast transactions.

  1. Add a card in the Watch app. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and navigate to the My Watch tab. Scroll down to select Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap Add Card to begin the setup process for your credit or debit card.
  2. Authenticate with your bank. Follow the on-screen prompts provided by your card issuer to verify your identity. This typically involves receiving a verification code via SMS, email, or your bank's official mobile application.
  3. Enable Wrist Detection. Ensure Wrist Detection is active to maintain security. Navigate to Settings > Passcode on your Apple Watch and confirm that Wrist Detection is toggled on, which keeps your device unlocked while worn.
  4. Initiate the payment. Locate the side button on the right side of the Apple Watch casing. Double-click the side button rapidly to launch the Wallet app interface and display your default payment card.
  5. Authorize at the terminal. Hold the display of your Apple Watch near the contactless payment reader. Wait until you feel a gentle tap and hear a confirmation chime indicating the transaction is complete.
