How to Start and Customize Apple Watch Workouts
Master your fitness tracking. Learn how to launch, pause, and tailor your Apple Watch workout metrics for precise health data collection.
- Open the Workout app. Press the Digital Crown to view your app grid or list. Locate and tap the green Workout app icon to initialize the application.
- Choose your activity type. Scroll through the list of exercise types. Tap the desired activity to begin the session immediately, or tap the three horizontal dots icon on the workout tile to set a specific goal, such as duration, distance, or calories.
- Adjust active metrics. While the workout is active, rotate the Digital Crown to switch between different data views. To reorder or hide metrics, open the Watch app on your paired iPhone, navigate to Workout, then select Workout View to customize the data displayed on your watch screen.
- Pause or end the session. Swipe right on the workout screen to reveal the control menu. Tap the Pause button to interrupt tracking, or tap the End button to finalize the session.
- Analyze your summary. After ending the workout, scroll down through the summary screen to view your performance data. Tap Done to save the information to the Fitness app on your iPhone.
