How to Set a Passcode on Apple Watch

Secure your Apple Watch by setting a passcode. Follow these steps to enable device locking for Apple Pay and data protection.

  1. Open the Settings app on Apple Watch. Press the Digital Crown to view your apps. Locate and tap the Settings icon, which resembles a mechanical gear.
  2. Select Passcode from the menu. Scroll down the Settings list using the Digital Crown. Tap the option labeled Passcode.
  3. Turn on the passcode. Tap Turn Passcode On. You will be prompted to create a unique sequence of digits on the numeric keypad displayed on the screen.
  4. Confirm your new passcode. Re-enter the identical numeric code to confirm the selection. Once entered, the passcode is immediately active.
  5. Enable Wrist Detection. Ensure Wrist Detection is enabled in the Passcode settings menu. This allows your watch to lock automatically when removed from your wrist.
