Review Health Data Permissions After Apple Watch Transfer

Verify and restore health data access permissions on your iPhone after migrating to a new Apple Watch to ensure accurate tracking and sync.

  1. Open Privacy settings. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down and tap on Privacy & Security to access your device permission hierarchy.
  2. Access Health permissions. Locate and tap on the Health option within the privacy menu. This screen lists every application that has previously requested access to your HealthKit data.
  3. Identify restricted apps. Review the list of apps. If an app appears with a greyed-out toggle or missing checkmarks for specific categories like Heart Rate or Steps, it requires manual re-authorization following the transfer.
  4. Enable data categories. Tap an app name to view its specific data permissions. Toggle the switches for the health metrics you want the app to access, such as Active Energy, Walking Heart Rate, or Sleep Analysis.
  5. Confirm source prioritization. Open the Health app, tap the Browse tab, and select a specific metric. Scroll to the bottom and select Data Sources & Access to verify that your new Apple Watch is listed as a primary data source.
