How to Review and Manage Apple Watch Health Permissions
Take control of your data privacy. Learn how to review and update which apps and services have access to your Apple Watch health metrics.
- Open the Health settings on iPhone. Unlock your iPhone and open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on the Privacy & Security menu item. Locate and select the Health option from the list.
- Review current app permissions. Tap Data Access & Devices to see a comprehensive list of every application that has requested access to your health data. Tap on any specific application to view the exact categories of data it is permitted to read or write.
- Toggle specific health data permissions. Inside the individual app view, toggle the switches for specific health data types like Heart Rate, Active Energy, or Sleep Analysis. If you wish to revoke all access, toggle the Turn Off All button at the top of the permission list.
- Manage device-level data sharing. Return to the Data Access & Devices screen and select the Devices tab at the top. Here you can see which hardware devices are actively recording data to your Health profile. Tap a specific device to remove it if it is no longer synced or used.
- Verify Apple Watch privacy settings. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and go to the My Watch tab. Tap Privacy and ensure that Heart Rate and Fitness Tracking are toggled to your preferred state. These settings act as a master override for your Apple Watch sensors.
