How to restore an Apple Watch from backup
Restore your Apple Watch from a backup after unpairing or resetting. Follow these precise steps to recover your health data and settings.
- Bring your devices together. Place your Apple Watch on its charger and ensure it is powered on. Ensure your iPhone has Bluetooth enabled and is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Watch app. On your iPhone, open the Watch app. If the device was recently unpaired, the app will display the 'Start Pairing' screen automatically.
- Begin the pairing sequence. Tap Start Pairing and select Set Up for Myself. Align the Apple Watch face within the iPhone viewfinder, or tap Pair Apple Watch Manually if the camera fails to recognize the device.
- Select Restore from Backup. When prompted during the setup screens, tap Restore from Backup. You will see a list of available backups saved to your iPhone or iCloud account.
- Confirm terms and settings. Agree to the Terms and Conditions. Proceed through the remaining configuration screens, including Activation Lock, Passcode setup, and App View preference.
- Finalize the data transfer. Your iPhone will sync the backup data to the watch. Keep the devices near each other until the sync progress bar completes and the watch face appears.
