How to View Your Heart Rate on Apple Watch

Learn how to monitor your current heart rate, view trends, and check resting and walking averages directly on your Apple Watch.

  1. Open the Heart Rate application. Press the Digital Crown to view your installed applications. Locate and tap the Heart Rate icon, represented by a white heart on a black background.
  2. View your current heart rate. Once the application is open, the sensor will begin an active measurement. Remain still for several seconds to allow the Apple Watch to capture your current beats per minute (BPM).
  3. Scroll to view heart rate trends. Rotate the Digital Crown downward to see a breakdown of your daily activity. This view displays your resting rate and walking average for the current day.
  4. Examine daily graphs. Continue scrolling to view a chronological line graph of your heart rate over the last 24 hours. Tap the graph to expand the view and see specific data points for individual hours.
  5. View extended data on iPhone. For long-term health insights, open the Health app on your paired iPhone. Navigate to Browse, select Heart, and choose Heart Rate to view weekly, monthly, and yearly trends.
