How to Transfer Your Cellular Plan to a New Apple Watch
Learn how to move your cellular plan from your current Apple Watch to a new device using the Watch app on your iPhone. Follow our step-by-step instructions.
- Unpair your previous Apple Watch. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap the All Watches tab in the top-left corner. Tap the info icon next to your old watch and select Unpair Apple Watch. This action removes the cellular plan from the device while keeping the subscription active on your carrier account.
- Pair your new Apple Watch. Place your new Apple Watch near your iPhone until the pairing animation appears on the phone screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the device as new or restore from your most recent backup.
- Initiate cellular setup. During the initial device setup, select Set Up Cellular when prompted. If you skipped this during setup, open the Watch app on your iPhone, select My Watch, tap Cellular, and choose Set Up Cellular.
- Log in to your carrier account. The app will redirect you to your carrier's sign-in page. Enter your cellular account credentials to authorize the transfer of your existing plan to the new device hardware.
- Confirm activation status. Wait for the status indicator in the Cellular settings menu to show your carrier's name. Once the status changes from Activating to your carrier name, your plan is successfully migrated to the new watch.
