How to Clean and Maintain Your Smartwatch Band

Keep your smartwatch band hygienic and durable. Learn the precise steps to clean silicone, leather, and metal bands without damaging your device.

  1. Remove the band from the watch. Press the band release buttons on the underside of your watch casing. Slide the band out laterally to detach it completely, ensuring the watch housing is not exposed to moisture during the cleaning process.
  2. Identify your band material. Determine if your band is silicone/fluoroelastomer, leather, or metal. Cleaning methods differ significantly by material to prevent chemical damage or oxidation.
  3. Sanitize silicone or synthetic bands. Dampen a lint-free cloth with fresh water and a mild, non-abrasive hand soap. Wipe the band thoroughly to remove oils and debris, then rinse under running water and dry completely with a clean cloth.
  4. Maintain leather and metal bands. Wipe leather bands with a dry, lint-free cloth; avoid submerging them in water. For metal bands, use a slightly damp cloth to wipe the links, then use a soft toothbrush to gently clear debris from the crevices, finishing with a dry buff.
  5. Dry and reattach. Ensure the band is completely dry before reattaching it to your watch housing. Slide the band back into the grooves until you feel or hear a secure mechanical click.
