How to Customize Haptic Feedback on Apple Watch

Learn how to adjust the intensity and patterns of haptic notifications on your Apple Watch to ensure you never miss an alert.

  1. Access the Settings menu on your Apple Watch. Press the Digital Crown to view your app grid or list. Locate and tap the Settings app, represented by a grey gear icon.
  2. Locate Sounds & Haptics settings. Scroll down the Settings menu using the Digital Crown or your finger. Tap on the Sounds & Haptics menu option to view current notification preferences.
  3. Select your Haptic intensity. Scroll until you reach the Haptic Intensity section. Choose between Default, which provides a standard vibration, or Prominent, which adds an extra tap before most notifications to increase awareness.
  4. Modify Haptics via iPhone. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone. Navigate to the My Watch tab, tap Sounds & Haptics, and adjust the Haptic Intensity slider to your preference.
  5. Test the new feedback. Once the setting is applied, the Watch will provide a sample tap to verify the intensity change. If the feedback is too subtle or too aggressive, return to the settings to recalibrate immediately.
