How to Secure Apple Wallet on Apple Watch
Secure your Apple Wallet on Apple Watch by enforcing a passcode, configuring wrist detection, and managing transaction security settings effectively.
- Enable the Apple Watch Passcode. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone. Navigate to the My Watch tab, select Passcode, and tap Turn Passcode On to create a unique code for your watch. This code is the primary defense for accessing Apple Wallet when the device is on your wrist.
- Confirm Wrist Detection. In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab and select Passcode. Ensure that Wrist Detection is toggled to On. This feature automatically locks your watch when you remove it, preventing unauthorized access to your Wallet.
- Manage Express Transit Settings. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap Wallet & Apple Pay. Review your Express Transit settings to ensure only authorized cards are enabled. Express mode allows payment without a passcode, so restrict this to cards you carry for daily transit use only.
- Remove Cards via Find My. If your watch is lost or stolen, immediately secure your financial data through iCloud. Access iCloud.com/find or use the Find My app on another Apple device. Select your Apple Watch and mark it as Lost to suspend Apple Pay and prevent further transactions.
- Disable Wallet Notifications. Prevent sensitive transaction details from appearing on your watch face when locked. Navigate to the Watch app on your iPhone, tap Notifications, select Wallet, and toggle off Show Notifications to ensure your financial activity remains private.
