How to sync health data to a new wearable

Learn how to sync your health history and fitness metrics to a new wearable device efficiently while ensuring data integrity.

  1. Back up your current health data. Open the Health app on your smartphone. Navigate to your Profile icon in the top-right corner, select 'Export All Health Data', and confirm the action to create a secure archive. This ensures your historical metrics are stored locally before transitioning to the new hardware.
  2. Unpair the existing wearable. Open the companion app for your old wearable. Locate the device settings menu and select 'Unpair' or 'Remove Device'. This action triggers a final cloud sync and clears the synchronization bridge for your new hardware.
  3. Pair the new wearable. Power on the new wearable and bring it into close proximity with your smartphone. Open the manufacturer's companion app and select 'Add New Device'. Follow the on-screen prompts to establish a secure Bluetooth connection.
  4. Restore from backup. Within the companion app, select 'Restore from Backup' when prompted during the initial configuration. Select the most recent archive created in Step 1 to populate the new device with your historical biometric and activity data.
  5. Validate data integrity. Navigate to the Activity or Health dashboard in your companion app. Check that your historical step counts, heart rate trends, and sleep logs appear correctly. Syncing may take several minutes depending on the volume of accumulated data.
