How to Add Emergency Contacts to Your Apple Watch
Learn how to configure your Medical ID and add emergency contacts to your Apple Watch to ensure first responders have access to your critical information.
- Open the Health application on your iPhone. Unlock your iPhone and launch the Health app. Tap your profile picture or initials located in the top-right corner of the Summary tab.
- Access your Medical ID profile. Select the Medical ID option from the menu. Tap the Edit button in the top-right corner to modify your emergency details.
- Add your emergency contacts. Scroll down to the Emergency Contacts section and tap the green plus icon labeled add emergency contact. Choose a contact from your existing list and define their relationship to you.
- Enable Show When Locked. Toggle the switch for Show When Locked to the on position. This allows emergency responders to view your Medical ID and call your contacts without needing to unlock your device.
- Save your changes. Tap Done in the top-right corner to commit your changes. Your Apple Watch will sync these updates automatically via iCloud.
- Verify access on your Apple Watch. Press and hold the side button on your Apple Watch until the sliders appear. Slide the Medical ID slider to the right to confirm your information is displayed correctly.
