How to Create a Custom Workout Watch Face on Apple Watch

Configure a dedicated watch face for fitness tracking. Optimize your Apple Watch for rapid access to metrics, heart rate zones, and workout controls.

  1. Enter the face gallery. On your paired iPhone, open the Watch app. Tap the Face Gallery tab located in the bottom navigation bar to view all available watch face templates.
  2. Choose a high-information layout. Select a modular watch face such as Modular or Modular Ultra. These layouts offer the highest number of complication slots, which is essential for displaying multiple fitness metrics simultaneously.
  3. Map your fitness complications. Tap each complication slot on the face preview. Assign the Workout app to the primary central slot for one-tap access. Assign Activity, Heart Rate, and Weather to the secondary corner slots for constant monitoring.
  4. Add the face to your watch. Tap the Add button at the top of the screen to save the watch face. Your Apple Watch will instantly sync and apply the new configuration as the active face.
  5. Adjust settings on the device. Press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to return to the watch face. Long-press the display to enter editing mode, then tap Edit to fine-tune the colors or complication styles directly from your wrist.
