Managing Guest Access for Smart Locks
Secure your home with temporary smart lock guest codes. Learn to set, schedule, and revoke access for visitors while maintaining your home's security.
- Assign unique codes per user. Open your lock’s dedicated mobile application and navigate to the Access or Users menu. Select Add New Guest and create a unique code for each individual person. Never reuse codes across different visitors to ensure you can identify exactly who enters your home.
- Set time-restricted access. Select the newly created user profile and toggle the Schedule switch. Define specific start and end times for the code to remain active. This ensures the lock remains inaccessible once your guest's stay concludes.
- Limit access frequency. If your lock management software supports it, choose Recurring Access or One-Time Access. Use Recurring for guests visiting on specific days of the week, or One-Time for service workers who only need to enter once. This narrows the window for potential unauthorized access.
- Enable activity notifications. Navigate to the Notifications or Settings menu for your specific lock. Toggle on alerts for Guest Access to receive a push notification whenever a specific code is used. This provides real-time visibility into when your guests arrive and depart.
- Revoke unused credentials. Regularly audit your user list in the app. Delete any codes associated with guests who no longer require access. Maintaining a clean user list reduces the risk of legacy codes being used without your knowledge.
