Organizing Smart Home Devices by Room

Learn how to categorize your smart home devices by room in the Home app to improve automation, voice control, and device management.

1. Open the Home application. Launch the Home app from your Home Screen or App Library. Ensure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your smart home accessories.
2. Identify the device to move. Navigate to the Home tab. Locate the accessory icon you wish to assign to a specific room. Long-press the accessory icon to open its individual control panel.
3. Access accessory settings. Tap the 'Settings' icon, usually represented by a gear symbol, located in the bottom right corner of the control panel. This opens the configuration menu for that specific device.
4. Assign a new room. Tap the 'Room' menu item. Select an existing room from the list or tap 'Create New' to define a custom space name. Once selected, tap 'Done' to commit the change.
5. Create or edit rooms. Tap the 'Rooms' tab at the bottom of the Home app to view your full layout. Tap the menu icon in the top left to manage specific rooms, including renaming them or changing the wallpaper to match your physical space.
